To date, my speculative work has taken two forms. One is furniture, which makes use of highly figured veneers and fine finishes. The other is more rustic and centers on woodturning. I enjoy experimenting with the odd piece of firewood just to see what I might find inside. This is where I connect more closely with the material and where I experiment with various techniques that might one day become part of my furniture-making vocabulary. – Kevin Gill
After an eighteen year career as an accountant and technology consultant, Kevin decided to pursue a long-held passion for creativity in his work. He moved from South Florida to Midcoast Maine to follow his dream of becoming a designer and builder of hand-crafted studio furniture. Kevin specializes in collaborating with interior designers, architects and homeowners; developing one-of-a-kind custom pieces for the home or workplace. In September 2008, his chess and backgammon table was featured in Fine Woodworking’s 102 Contemporary Designs issue.
