ERIC HURT
A native of North Dakota, Eric moved to Montana in 1999. While working as a carpenter on a ranch, he began making furniture on his own. With access to an admirable woodshop and woodworking library he taught himself and developed his hand skills. In search of more formal training, he came to the Center in 2003. After courses and assistantships Eric applied and was accepted as a Studio Fellow in 2004. After his Fellowship, he moved to Portland, Maine and found employment working at Angela Adams Designs. In mid 2006 Eric ventured out and is currently a full-time furniture maker in his own shop.
“My passion for furniture making is driven by the desire to build things with my hands, the challenge of design, and the curiosity of my own ability as a designer craftsman.”
