MIKEY PUMPHREY

Mikey Pumphrey received a B.A. in Studio Art and Biology from the Claremont Colleges in Los Angeles where he began exploring furniture making.  Upon graduation, he completed post-baccalaureate coursework in furniture making and woodworking at Palomar College in San Diego.  He has worked as a cabinetmaker and metalsmith in addition to being an artist-in-residence at the Nottingham Center for the Arts in San Diego.  Mikey has served as a teaching assistant at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship where he currently is completing a year-long studio fellowship.

“My work aims to investigate the relationships between ourselves and furniture objects, examining how they affect our social interactions and psychological dispositions.”
