LIBBY SCHRUM
Libby began her furniture-making career six years ago as a student in the Twelve-week Intensive Program. Since then, she has completed an assistantship and two separate fellowships at the Center and holds an MFA in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design. In an effort to become a more efficient craftsman and learn about making a living as a furniture maker, Libby is currently employed as a cabinetmaker at Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding Co. in Thomaston.
“Something I have come to appreciate most about being a furniture maker is the opportunity to think about, create and hopefully communicate new and changing ideas. My current work reflects a need to draw back from chronic over thinking and attempting to find peace in the simplicity of a form.”
