"I started woodworking as a teenager in the Netherlands and came to the USA in 1996 where I worked as a physical therapist and continued woodworking as a hobby.
As we could not afford to buy the furniture we liked, I designed and built the pieces we needed. Our two children were a good incentive for woodworking - furniture and toys.
I spent several years in Korea and trained a Korean carpenter to make prostheses. This carpenter introduced me to Korean Woodworking tools. I have been an orthopedic surgeon for 24 years during which time my skills as a woodworker were enhanced by attending several summer courses at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship."
