David Barber
David is a native New Englander. He attended Maine College of Art, Fox Maple School of Traditional Building and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts before coming to the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship. Last summer’s highlight was his internship at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Portland where he collaborated with artist Michael Queenland on his furniture and photo exhibit for the Studio Museum of Harlem in New York City. David is continuing his education in woodworking and aspires to a career in studio furniture design and craftsmanship in Maine. More of Dave’s work can be seen on his website www.forwoodthinking.net.
“My experiences here at the Center have provided me with the skills and given me the freedom to explore, through my designs, the internal and external connections between piece and place.”
