New Hampshire native, Silas lived for many years in Shaker village in Canterbury, New Hampshire. He was inspired by watching his dad work with his hands as a restoration carpenter and pursued a career as a carpenter/timber framer and artist in Peterborough, New Hampshire. He feels that furniture offers an aspect that is not found in conventional building, and is attracted to the freedom of expression afforded by studio furniture design and craftsmanship.
