Ric Washburn
Snohomish, Washington
Ric’s interest in working with wood began early, whittling with his first pocket knife at the age of ten. As he matured and his education turned to architecture and medical electronics engineering, having woodworking shop was always in the back of his mind. He took up carving as a serious hobby and started taking classes in 2001. Ric had the time of his life at the Basic Woodworking class here at the Center and also found what he believes to be his calling for the rest of his life. With the encouragement and support of friends and family he made the commitment to the Nine-month Comprehensive program at CFC and relocated to Maine. After completion he will pursue woodworking full-time out of his own shop in Appleton, Me.
“I find working with wood to be incredibly fulfilling. The journey from concept to design and construction and then to completion of a beautiful piece of furniture brings a wonderful sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.” - Ric Washburn
